The Postal Paths Author Talk

  • Thomas Tosh 19 E Morton St Thornhill, DG3 5LZ United Kingdom (map)

For over 100 years, rural postmen and women walked up to 20 miles a day across rugged landscape delivering mail to the most remote homes and farms. In this illustrated talk, Alan Cleaver (author of The Postal Paths) tells the story of these unsung heroes, detailing the long and tough routes they walked (and sometimes cycled) in all weathers. All rural deliveries are now made by van but many of the postal paths are now promoted as tourist trails and Alan will details just some of the Scottish routes open to all to walk.
